On January 15th, 1919, Boston witnessed a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with that thick sweet nectar burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that crashed through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, reaching heights 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Homes and businesses crumbled under the power of the unstoppable goo.
The aftermath was grim. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more were injured. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
